Comparison
domscout vs Firecrawl, ScreenshotOne and Browserless
Every competitor number here was read from that vendor's own page on a stated date, with a link to it. The section on what domscout cannot do is not buried.
Entry pricing, side by side
Read from each vendor's own pricing page on September 17, 2026. The units are not equivalent, so the fourth column matters more than the second.
What each one is better at
Claims below come from each vendor's own marketing pages. Where a page says nothing about a capability, this one says nothing either - silence is not evidence of absence.
Firecrawl
Its hosted Fire-engine is described as infrastructure that handles proxies and rendering, it offers a search endpoint that returns full content from web results, and it publishes an official MCP server. The project is primarily licensed AGPL-3.0 with a documented self-hosting guide. If you need to run the stack yourself, or to search the web rather than fetch a URL you already have, domscout does neither.
ScreenshotOne
A screenshot specialist. It advertises a database of 50,000+ rules and heuristics for blocking cookie banners, plus ad and chat-widget blocking, and it bills only successful requests. If clean marketing screenshots at volume are the whole job, that focus shows.
Browserless
Sells browser time rather than results: residential proxies and captcha solving are listed on every plan including the free one. If you are driving Puppeteer or Playwright yourself against sites that fight back, that is the shape of the problem it solves.
domscout
One POST returns Markdown for an LLM, a semantic DOM snapshot an agent can act on, a screenshot and a PDF from the same render. Recurring monitors report changes to a signed webhook, crawl and batch run as durable jobs that survive a dead worker, and billing is per capture with a hard stop rather than per minute of browser time.
What domscout does not do
If one of these is your workload, one of the services above is the better purchase.
- All captures leave from a single egress IP, with no proxy rotation and no residential proxies. A site that blocks that address blocks it for every domscout customer, and there is no way to route around it.
- No captcha solving. A page behind a challenge will not be captured.
- No web search. domscout renders URLs you already have; it does not find them.
- Crawls stop at 500 pages and depth 5, require an explicit HTTPS origin allowlist, and always obey robots.txt with no bypass option. For some workloads that is the feature; if you need unbounded traversal it is a wall.
- Hosted only. There is no self-hosted or open-source build of the API.
